  1. Cruisin the coast 2019! Love it! I take a week off work each year at this time. I live for it each year! Keeps getting bigger each year. I put the 48 on the interstate for 60 miles this morning. Although I didn't pass a single thing, the car did great!

  2. 10-7-19: Sitting in my garage gazing down at the highway while enjoying a pair of Hostess Cupcakes. ? The 48 is sitting comfortably behind me. The sound of the traffic mixed with moments of silence is calming.

  4. the trim is very different and the Plymouth is a smaller car than the Dodge....traditionally the only trim that the P15 and D24 interchange is the rear fender trim as that was a dealer installed sales option for the P15

  6. There are a few oil caps to maintain on these old cars, most are awkward to get to. I use to always carry a zoom oil bottle with me when I had to maintain several swamp coolers. They have the same oil cups.

  7. There should be an oil cap on the back of the speedo. A couple of drops of 3 in 1 oil. Remove the cable from the speedo and the trans. The inner cable pulls out of the housing. Clean and lube with graphite. Should be good to go.

  8. I pushed it in and out half dozen times and everything works fine. I think Tim nailed it. Thanks

  9. Plymouthy is absolutely correct. However: There is a D25 Dodge and much of the Plymouth trim will fit it because it is built on the Plymouth body

  11. no experience with these companies...but unless you know there have been zero changes in your bed, everything squared up as factory a NON DRILLED kit may be of use to you. I would not personally order a drilled kit...too many variables in the mix over a long period of time that is the age of the vehicle.

  12. In a radial size you'd find a 185x16 would be closest, or maybe 195x16 may fit...........bolt pattern is the same as full size mopar or even a Frod wheel tho' if the car has the original rims it should still have a locating lug which will restrict the use of other rims and also should, as far as I know have screw into the brake drum left and right hand threaded bolts which may or may not restrict wheel swapping.......1941 DeSoto's could be had with either 6.25 or 6.50 x 16 tyres, rims would have been 4" wide........andyd

  13. While this isn't my truck I thought everyone would enjoy it. I took this picture yesterday at a local pumpkin festival. It does not look like it has been repainted. Note the pinstripe on the grill.

  14. Slight change of plan. The radio that I just repaired was working fine. Unfortunately Tommy two tooth the truck driver, had hacked into my dash with an after market radio many years ago. When I went to fit the repaired radio, I realized that the dash would have a hole in the dash that wouldn't be covered by the Mopar 830 radio when installed. So I moved to plan B, which was to take the Mopar 820 radio that I had purchased,, recap and clean and test it, then fit that into my 53 Truck. Here's the radio installed in my truck, the speaker is in the center of the dash, here I purchased a new 4 ohm speaker and fitted the new speaker under the Top speaker grill. I now have a working radio in the truck and it sounds great, it's actually pretty loud at full volume.

  15. 10-6-19: Moved the truck over into that neutral space. Didn't use wheel dollies. I was surprised how easily the wheels turned even when I was sitting still. I crave driving it....it's killing me (softly; Roberta Flack ?). Guess I better get to work on it.

  16. The P15 is now back on the road and is as quiet as a new 1948! With the windows down I can't hear the engine above 40 mph. Total expenditure was less than $50 which included new gaskets, five new studs, a 3/8" drill/tap, the stud extractor, a tube of anti-seize, four bolts for the heat riser and all new nuts. The block-off plate for the heat riser came from my scrap box. Ten hours of labor working on a neat old car.......priceless.

  17. The 53 tube radio fought me all the way, but I won. The radio is now working, still need to do some adjustments and fit the correct speaker with the correct impedance, that should fix the higher volume distortion. Should be fun to have a 53 tube radio in my 53 truck ?

  18. I did it on a 1 ton Fargo, weld tabs on the motor mounts, find a radiator hose to make up the difference, maybe put a spacer on your fan and you should be there. Easier than going from a short motor to a long one.
