  1. I've been running Old Yellers 6 volt starter on 12 volts for a little over 20 years now without any issues.

  2. Yeah I really appreciate all the opinions. I dont know much right now. But at this rate will learn as I go. I am sure eventually with a few peoples help I will be doing some more hands on experience.

  3. have you replaced the rubber flexible fuel line that connects to the FP and the metal line that is along the lower right side of the radiator. The line might be so old that the rubber in the line has collapsed and is blocking the flow of the fuel into the pump and then into the carb. Also are you getting any gas into the fuel bowl in the carb. Is the float adjusted correctly also might be a stuck needle in the float area. Rich Hartung

  4. Just set up my account and thought I should do a brief intro. I've got an all original 1950 Dodge Coronet, 3 speed with fluid drive, and still running on 6 volts. I bought the car when I was 15 and drove it to high school everyday. 24 years old now and hopefully will be able to start restoring it withing the next year. Only thing that is intimating me with the restoration is tackling the fluid drive unit. It leaks bad and trying to find a place to replace the seals is proving tricky. Hoping to find some advice on hear regarding that.

  5. I’m far from an expert, but I’ve never seen anything like this either. It looks like a by-pass line or an overflow line of some kind. What year and make of vehicle is this on? Hopefully, someone with more expertise will be able to shed some light on this for you. I’ll be following your posts, because I’d like to know what it’s for too!

  6. Nothing like Autolite technology and quality Reg. I kinda like a 6v starter on 12, it spins faster than a 12 volt starter....

  8. coming home from town and about 1/2 mile from the house was a huge rattler on the edge of the road...I stopped to see if it had been hit as my cousin wants a Canebrake rattler skin. It was fully alive and fully functional.....he was huge about 5 foot long and get this...only had two rattles and a button.....Canebrakes are pink and chocolate in color for our neck of the woods...very pretty in a dangerous way....yes they are timber rattlers...but tell a local that and he says... "say what...you not from around here are ya boy?... your momma drop you when you were born?"

  9. I totally understand and respect that decision. For the record - I've put roughly 1500 miles on my P15, and much of that has been at highway speeds and in and around rush hour traffic. Disc brakes up front, Dodge Charger axle out back with drums and 3.55 gears, T5 5 speed transmission (for overdrive), 251ci engine out of a Desoto with dual carbs and dual exhaust. It starts up, it runs, drives, and performs well for daily driving activities. Runs straight down the interstate at 80mph if I want. I bought it to drive and enjoy and travel with. Since I have owned it less than a year and have been ironing out kinks in it (needed rewired, fuel pump issues, been sitting in a garage for some time), I think I'm doing pretty good so far. All anyone on this forum will want to do is help you make the best decisions for you. Those decisions might be different than someone else might make. All we can do is provide advice and explanations as to how we ourselves decided based on what we are doing. Good luck! I hope this brake job is quick and painless and you are enjoying your ride in short order!

  10. Honestly I am going to try to keep it stock with all the brake parts between the 2 cars. The guy is shipping me the brake parts so I'll see what I have in the next couple days. If I don't have what I need to make the car drivable then I will try to figure out what is best. I appreciate all the feedback. If things dont working will definitely try to do disc on the front.

  12. They do. Underside of the bolt heads, too. Loc-tite 565. I work with hydraulics and every one of my tool boxes has a tube.

  13. The old Meadowbrook seems to be the very difinition of a family car. Still doing what it was meant to do and keeping the miles of smiles coming.

  14. Inspired by John and Adam, I taught my friend how to drive the old Meadowbrook. It was completely different to finally ride passenger in the car.

  15. Less then a shade tree mechanic here, If the cam lobe was worn, would not operate the fuel pump ... that be pretty desperate and a electric fuel pump would cure it. I suspect a stuck needle for the float? ... can you stick a gas can on the hood and gravity fill the carb? Would eliminate the fuel pump from the picture. The B&B carb is pretty simple to work on ... basic as it can be.
