  1. Hello everyone, I am in the process of getting an old family truck, it needs a good amount of work but I am pretty excited to get going. Its a 1949 Dodge 1 ton with a dump bed. I was also wondering if anyone could give me a hand with syphering the model information. Its Canadian made from the Windsor plant, model ID says DE 2 2 6. 2. I have been working on this car since 2012 and seven years later it is finally finished. I do have a few minor things left to do but it is on the road and being driven lots. It is a Canadian Dodge based on the Plymouth but using a Dodge grille and other trim. They are a very different car to the US Dodge.

  3. My father was in the 7th Cavalry stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas prior to being deployed to the Philippines in World War II. They patrolled the Mexican border on horseback before shipping out. The horses were retired and the soldiers were split between mechanized Cav and foot soldiers. At the same age, on the other hand, I was painting apartments for $3.25 an hour and enjoying my first taste of freedom waiting to start college. Life was good for me because of him and his generation.

  5. My best guess, whoever did it was not the mechanic he thought he was My second guess, They did not want to cut the floor and rebuild a new trans tunnel ... It also has the Aod tranny that came with the motor ... A modified drive line and wiring harness, all else is original. Tomorrow I will have the seat relocated, moved back for belly room, should be done with it ... though tempted to check the wheel bearings and brakes, before returning it.

  6. I posted a thread about 2-3 months ago with some pics on the upper shock mount relocation we did on my 1940 Dodge...heres a couple of the pics...........seems to be working fine............these are Munro shocks with the following numbers stamped into them.....PK14 and 1009.......they are very short........12.5" extended, 8.5 compressed .......we made the upper shock mounts as shown to suit these shocks, as they would not work with Frod F1 or Mopar 50's pickup cast steel shock mount brackets.........andyd
