  1. What an incredible book. The amount of great info is mindblowing. The illustrations are like candy for a car junkie. I can’t put it down. I found a 20th edition 1942 year in excellent condition. Paid $15 US for it. Worth a ton more to an old-car car nut. Since it arrived in the mail I’ve burned 4-5 hours with my nose in it. (It arrived yesterday) If you’re a gear head, or not, and just want to learn more about our old cars you’ve got to get a copy of this book. Highly recommend. I am so glad I bumped into this book. https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2016/02/03/recommended-reading-dykes-automobile-and-gasoline-engine-encyclopedia/

  2. The number is also stamped on the left rear frame outboard usually on the rear wheel arch. Some take a wire brushing to find.

  3. Woodrow, Before you use the clear sealant, consider this – if it’s going to be visible, you may be better off using the black sealant, since the rubber’s black. Get yourself a plastic interior tucking tool (also used for glass work . . .), and use that to lift the rubber from the car, or the glass, and to spread and/or remove excess sealant. If you’re working on the body-side of the rubber, consider taping the body along the edge of the rubber to keep the sealant off of the paint. Afterwards – another “happy dance”. Kindest regards . . .

  5. I have heard both good and bad about pertonix. I plan to stay 6 volt, as original as possible. If I feel the need to update my dizzy, and is very likely I will. I would go 12 volt and then do the 225 slant 6 distributor conversion. To me using OEM parts you can buy off the shelf just makes sense.

  6. It would have been my thought that if PERTRONIX suggested a resistor, then they would have said component for the install to completely round out their ignition package. To suggest the use of a resistor and not in any manner define placement in circuit, value in terms of impedance and wattage, then they are leaving themselves wide open for a multitude of failure to warrant.

  7. Let me say this about that. About 12 years ago I had a serious septic arthritic infection and almost died. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks and inpatient therapy for 2 more weeks and then a 6 week period of home PT. At the start I could not walk or raise my right arm at the shoulder. By the time I was done with therapy I was walking unaided and was within a couple of weeks able to lift my arm and actually do something with it while it was up there. I admit that I never became as good as I was before the illness but was well enough to return to work at a very physical job(Commercial Printing) and stay for 4 more years. So as I said, don't give up.

  12. I'm gonna have to agree with Dave72, Rockauto is just a vendor not the manufacturer. I have ordered for Rockauto dozens on times with no issues. However, when it comes to brake cylinders and master cylinders, I have bought from some of the board recommended vendors and had issues with both parts. Unfortunately it seems to be the nature of some of the replacemnt parts. One of the reasons I upgraded to disc brakes and a dual master
