  3. For those of you considering polyurethanes, be mindful that the minwax oil modified urethane is not light stable and will fail after long exposure to sunlight. You can use minwax helmsman which is sunlight stable or an automotive urethane clear.

  6. Love it when someone takes something that most people wouldn't think of as a hot rod or custom and pulls it off. That's what I love about this hobby. Great execution of your thoughts. Well done Hansen

  8. Got a link to that article? FWIW, pretty much every law I've seen or heard about regarding automotive equipment had a "manufactured on or after" clause in it. Heck the last I checked, the California Motor Vehicle Code still has the details about what you need to do to be legal with solid rubber tires (seen that on a big truck in the last 90 or so years?) and carbide headlights (seen that on a car in the last 100 years?). Both of those are legal but may have the same restrictions now they had way back when (e.g. there is a pretty slow maximum speed for vehicles with solid rubber tires).

  9. Maybe they can just go back to the old-timey hobby of scalp collecting? Eliminating bloviating political creatures from the Eco-system would even be a public service.

  10. It won't. By then everyone in Ca will travel by butterfly wings, not cars. The roads will be wide open for antique cars until they crack and disappear.

  11. get a four post lift, push it on and raise it to the max limit...go get a pink Prius and park it under it....make this the daily driver.....you have not even lost you flathead virginity yet and you sound like throwing in the towel......you have stated internal rust...why would you want to start this engine without a tear down to ensure any rotation will not cause further more severe damage....you must approach logically and systematically to achieve forward gains. After two years os sitting I cannot see any rush at this point to not do the job justice.
