  2. Toast likes toast I guess! Rude is rude and with me I have ZERO problem expressing my opinion to a vendor (experienced or not) in person or not who is rude to me. Being knowledgeable on a subject doesn't mean you loose respect for others especially when in business and the customers pay you your time. Some car folks seem to be stuck up sbobs but it was always the "show people" sad to see that "hands on" folks and "experienced" vendors lends a liscence to be a jackazz! Hopefully the employee changes his attitude and welcomes clients with a pleasant attitude, I doubt it would interfer with his knowledge! Lifes to short and these damn cars are always breaking.................................... HA! Doc

  4. I took advantages of a hot and humid day to hook up my tail-lights. Never had a license plate light that I can remember. Brake Lights Tail-lights and turn-signals working well.

  5. One of my favorite too. Lots of great laughs and a glimpse of a truly interesting character. Got to love his conviction. When it first came out my folks had just moved into a retirement home. On Saturday evenings they had movie night in a large auditorium. My Dad asked me to get involved with the movie selection and find something that the old folks would really enjoy instead of the mundane stuff they got from the staff. Now you have to picture a room full of very proper little old blue haired ladies and a few old gents sitting down to what was usually nap time.....and you will have an idea of the crowd. On this particular evening everyone stayed up and laughed through the whole show. It was a big hit and got put on the regular play list. Who would have guessed? Jeff

  6. Spitfire head is not special other than the raised Spitfire logo. No Gain in compression ratio nor horse power. It was a Chrysler only head never installed on a Desoto engine. But it is a good looking improvement on any long block engine. A multi carburetor and dual exhaust setup also adds bling and looks terrific but in reality does little to improve performance as in the end you still have a flathead six cylinder engine. I have done the dual, dual conversion on my engine and it runs great but the performance gain rarely comes into play as I don't need it for my driving style.

  8. I don't care how dry he is. He seems to be putting my order in the box as we converse. I'm amazed at how fast I get my order. He helped me sort out my Dodge/ Plymouth clutch mystery. Bedside manner be dammed, results matter. Jim M

  11. Dropping an under the frame spare BEFORE lifting the vehicle is as safe as the side mount. It is then ready to be installed on the vehicle as soon as the flat one is off, minimizing the time it is sitting on a jack. The flat can then be placed back under the frame, if desired, or in the bed, AFTER it is safely resting on the ground.

  13. Double edged sword. So you can get great customer service from a less knowledgeable owner/csr....but less technical awareness OR You can get a "dry as toast" personality that knows his stuff with 30 years experience. I personally would pick the later......

  14. Follow up..... I was able to contact the owner who was very apologetic and reached out to me quickly. Apparently the dry toast guy was kind of inherited with the purchase of the company a few years ago. And even though he is the way he is, he brings a lot of knowledge to the company. As the owner told me, that is no excuse and he will likely need to manage this guy (Ed) better in the future. Its a bit of a double edge sword. However, if anyone calls and Ed isn't on his best behavior, ask for Josh or Chris. I was very pleased to know the owner really cares and went out of his way to contact me. That means a lot to me. Jim

  15. I've been to his shop in person several times. 20 minute ride from my office. Fella I deal with is always personable in person. But I ain't going in with expectations of grand dissertations... the owner I beleive monitors the email and usps, my advice would be to state your displeasure. One can't make something better if he isn't aware of the issue.

  18. Rock Auto is where I found the numbers I posted. Take the numbers Rich posted to your local auto supply store. You may find they supercede to another number. either way, your local auto parts store should be able to source them for you also.

  19. I'm not sure its on the same level but this post had me thinking the other day. I drove past the hockey rink that the Mighty Ducks movie was shot in and they are preparing to knock it down.

  21. The best way to find out for yourself is to call your local machine shop and find out what it will cost baised on different motors. Then you can make a better decesion rather than listening to a bunch of us old farts who have waged this battle for many years. Just ask me what I think of Furds, better still don't. Get something you'll be happy with that's most important, no matter what you choose someone won't like it, but who cares. I still like Nailhead Buicks in a hot rod except they are heavy and don't breath well, but sure look cool. now is that cool or what?
