  2. I like to use the vinegar trick myself. It seems to do a good job without being overly aggressive. Plus it's biodegradable.

  4. I agree 100%, I flushed the radiator with water then filled it with straight water and drove it for a week. Now when I drained the water just a tiny hint of brown color came out with it. ... It would have been fine to quit there. I already bought the vinegar and had planned to do it .... probably over kill .... but it is finished now.

  5. Something to consider.....I've found my '48 P15 to be sensitive to idle mixture adjustment and it needs seasonal adjustment to achieve the smoothest idle. Just a small tweak will even out the idle and eliminate most random pops. I do this a couple of times a year when ambient temps change from winter to summer and then back in the fall. I've also noticed this adjustment can be felt at highway speed when the throttle is barely cracked open. Too lean and the engine can have a very slight hesitation, not enough to hear but can definitely be felt. The service manual mentions that idle mixture can impact highway performance under light throttle, that must be what I've observed. Give this a look to make sure it isn't contributing to what you are seeing.

  6. Good evening gentlemen, For those who may still find this interesting or simply reference, I had a bit of time to work the rear suspension out, 2000 Ford Explorer 8.8 L3.73 Axle bearings & seals, pinion seal, rotors and calipers. Remove the original leave spring perches and stock sway bar mounts, weld the suspension mounts, added some material to the lower coil over shock mounts to resist deformation (only thing I really did not like about this kit) sand blast, primer and paint the rear components….not necessarily in that order. Rear 4-link components are from Rod Builders Warehouse…. Not affiliated but a happy customer. Next up will be completing the upper shock mount crossmember for the rear coil overs. Need to confirm measurement of a stock fuel tank from the original rear shock mounting point crossmember on a late 49-52? Dodge 2 door. (I believe is about the same 125.5 “ wheel base? My fuel tank was pretty bad off and I tossed it and not 100% sure of my clearances for the new upper shock mount. Waiting on materials to arrive to run fuel and brake lines front to back...... more to follow Soon I will be back to the body and remounting..........

  7. I got my hands on some old vintage ET/X Competiton wheels that were pretty far gone. Started with 220 grit working my way up 320,400,600,1000,1500 & 2000 then a final Show & Shine polish. Needless to say, I have no fingerprints left and the fingernails are worn to the nub....... Pics below are as found / after sanding / polish
