Temp Guage (re-bulb)

I just went to the local bubble pack auto supply and looked in the plastic packaging to see what kind of tube they had. Been long enough that I don't remember the brand.

The ether in the bulb will evaporate at high room temperatures. So ice by itself should be enough. I used salted ice to get a bit lower than 32 degree Fahrenheit just to be safe. Dry ice would be over kill on the temperature but may have another drawback: With a salted ice water solution you know that the bulb is fully wetted and is being cooled. With the solid dry ice you may have limited contact area with the bulb. Should work but you would have to be careful.
