Found this site last night. Gives maps plus word directions of where to turn, what highway to take, etc. http://www.historic66.com/description/

There are books of similar nature available, probably at bookstores, online, and from Rt 66 magazine.

Thinking in advance about the old Plymouth doings next June. I was trying to determine what way to go from Joplin to Tulsa via old 66 for the most part. It appears that can be done (more or less). When you get to Tulsa, 11th Street is the route. My next question is - how long will going this way take?? On the interstate it is about 100 miles -- an hour and a half to two hours. Speed limit on the Will Rogers Turnpike between MO line and Tulsa is 75mph.

If any of you want to get a good map and travel guide of Route 66 through California with historical facts and directions...get a copy of this from the link below.
