This isnt a good picture but if you look close it has slits on this coller that flex. The slits are cut opposite end for each cut made. With the open end on the slits it seems that grease can get through it easy. It looks like a sleeve of some kind but what it's function was for this hub I'm lost on. I dont think this will work with the new bearings and seals in place but I dont think it's needed anyhow.
