Sun Visor Mounting Bracket Color

Recommended Posts

I have a '51 B3B and I'd like to repaint my visor mounting brackets in the original factory color. Were all Pilothouse visor mounting brackets always the same color (as in the photo) from the factory regardless of cab color? Or, were they matched to the cab color? Or, were they left unpainted?

ggdad1951,

Were headliners all the same color regardless of cab color? My headliner was missing when I bought the truck.

as far as I know the interior panels were the color they were regardless of year.

Headliner/rear: tan

Door panels/toe kicks: dark brown.

my 51 and 52 had the tan headliner with black seats, door cards and kick covers.

both my 53's had grey headliner with maroon seats, door cards and kick panels

but, that could have been a package change/ option

never seen grey, black or maroon.  All the trucks round here I've poked in were the tan & brown.  Maybe it's the Oregonian air that changes the colors!

Come to think of it, I have seen ‘53’s done up in maroon and grey. This one was at Mopars in the Park in ‘09.

(Got your back, Brent. ? )

Thanks Merle! Now I don’t feel so bad making him “run” to catch up with us at BTt50’s ?

musta been a NW edition!

Don’t know if color was but, I have suspected the door card embossing was done differently from the CA plant and Michigan.... if we were organized we could probably document and figure it out. (Maybe on a different thread)

Glenn, sorry to take your thread OT.... Ggdad and I were just messing around ?

Brent,

No problem. It's all good stuff. The more input, the better. Besides, I got the answer I was looking for. Anyway, I ran over to Home Depot and found that Rustoleum 2X Ultracover (Nutmeg color) is an almost perfect match for the original visor bracket color. It comes in a satin finish, so if it's not glossy enough, I'll give it a coat or two of clear coat.

Glenn

What is the difference between the 1951-52 visors and the B4 1953 visor?

The parts book shows a new part# for the 53's...

I am proud you are my teacher Brent?!!

I've been trembling with anxiety for over a month waiting for your reply!

Now I wonder if the B4  visor arm rod is longer for the longer visor or same length as the b3 rod?

The B4 rod is painted, B3 is chrome looks like.

Lol, you could have called... ?

my b4 visor rod is the same length as the B3, just the “board frame” is longer and it didn’t have the “slide stop”
