Los_Control Posted June 16, 2019 Report Share Posted June 16, 2019 I doubt the water pump is not putting out enough water ... though it may need to be replaced. I would bet, pull the water pump and you will find the water distribution tube behind it is clogged. This will stop the flow of water through the block, can be replaced without to much blood loss. Checked rad flow? Verified coolant temperature drop from top rad tank to output at bottom? Thermostat fully opening? Test with no thermostat? Pressurize rad cap to test that cooling system is holding presaure? Water distribution tube in tact and free flowing? Block and head coolant passages clean of rust, scale and debris? I had so much calcium build up, I could not run a fence wire through the tube. With some effort, I did get my tube cleared, replacing it may be a better option. That’s a good start. I second this advice. especially the radiator flow test and thermostat functioning correctly. If this were my car, these two things would be first on the list and verifying that the fan belt is tight also. Good luck to you.
