BrandonBDenver Posted June 9, 2019 Report Share Posted June 9, 2019 the previous owner of my 46 special deluxe sedan put the chrome strips (the ones that ride below the rear side windows) on upside down. How do I remove them without damaging them? I know that they slide on the clips but do I just pull them straight off or is there a technique that I should know about that will save time and frustration? Tom Skinner Posted June 9, 2019 Report Share Posted June 9, 2019 Small Plastic Prybar/flatbar pop them back and off clip by clip. Not hard you will get the hang of it. woodrow Posted June 10, 2019 Report Share Posted June 10, 2019 plastic trim tools which look like a wedge did he trick for me. like said above just take it slow and one clip at a time. a bit of up and down movement with outward pressure will be necessary. alot of my nickel shows signs of an impatient person removing it by creating ripples at the location of each fastener. dont be that guy. get the right tools and take your time. youll be glad you did. Dan Hiebert Posted June 11, 2019 Report Share Posted June 11, 2019 It helps to push down on the opposite side of the trim, towards the side you're prying. Not down into the car, down parallel to the panel. You can do it bare handed, but it gets hard on the fingertips, I use a strip of wood to even things out.
