Parts Source

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm new to the forum, and own a '41 Plymouth Woodie. I am the third owner of the car,and it's a pretty much all original car.I am pulling the car out of long term storage, and plan to rebuild the brakes, along with the master cylinder. And undoubtedly a fuel pump and water pump will follow. My question is: where is there a reliable source of parts, specifically the brake parts?

Thank you!

https://www.vintagepowerwagons.com/  emphasis on trucks but still has many applicable parts

Do not under estimate what is available from NAPA and other as well as sometimes they have things you would not expect to find there

Very nice car.

As a fellow Plymouth woodie owner, I can tell you that most woodie-only parts are not reproduced. That said, certain items, such as door handles and locks are the same as Ford handles and locks of the 1930s-40s. Mac's Auto Parts was where I found quite a bit of stuff for my wagon. https://www.macsautoparts.com/ford_mercury_early/catalogsearch/result/?q=door+handle&x=21&y=9

Plymouth woodies are quite rare and we have a solid group of owners that can help. I have a friend in Grass Valley CA who has three 1941 Plymouth woodies in various stages of repair and a ton of extra parts. PM me with your contact info and I can send you more. I would also be happy to chat on the phone.

Also lookaround your area for a brakeshop that caters to trucks, commercia vehices and light construction vehicles.  These places can put new friction material on your current shoes, and emergency brake.  I can't recall if it was 40or41 that had stepped front wheel cylinders. Smaller diameter piston on the front shoe and larger on training shoe.  Great car enjoy.
