coldnorth
It appears the gas gauge in my 1948 Plymouth Special Deluxe may be reading backwards, is that possible if the wires got reversed? The former owners replaced the fuel tank so they may reversed the wires. thanks
Plymouthy Adams
it is easy to trouble shoot for this condition......swap the wires at the sender unit.....if reads normal, we can sign you off on Senders 101 qualification card....
coldnorth
Just want to be sure swapping the wires will not cause any harm to the fuel gauge or sender
PT81Jan
Cool, I would like to have your `backward fuel system` , too ! The more mls you drive, the fuller is the tank ........ just joking As Plymouthy said, just swap the wires (red arrow). It will not harm your units. That is not a swap of + / - , but a indication reverse. Ground is (if additionally installed / blue arrow) for example at the body of the sender unit. Cold Blue
I just got my original fuel gauge to work properly. I had the two sender wires reversed, and the first time I turned on the ignition to check the gauge, it went to the "Full" mark. I knew it was about empty, so I reversed the sender wires and "Viola" it registered correctly!
