RedHot71 Posted April 6, 2019 Report Share Posted April 6, 2019 Can I get a straight for sure answer from the old timers out there for the sequence and torque of the head "bolts" of my 1951 Dodge 2 1/2 ton flathead 6-cylinder. Dodgeb4ya Posted April 7, 2019 Report Share Posted April 7, 2019 1950 and back can be installed either way... end for end..doesn't matter as I recall. 1951 up with the internal bypass... gasket installs only one way.... These are instructions from the Montana Boys website..maybe they are wrong on this copper/ comp head gasket info? Jocko_51_B3B Posted May 25, 2019 Report Share Posted May 25, 2019 (edited) Should Aviation Gasket Maker be used to seal head bolt threads even though it lacks PTFE? Also, the previous post mentions using head bolt washers under head bolts. But most of the engine photos I've seen don't show washers under the head bolts. Has anyone used them under head bolts?
