a 63 Coronet is completely different.      A 53 uses a longer input shaft.  The shaft from a 53 will fit the earlier transmission.

The reason for the long input shaft may involve a fluid drive unit or the deletion of  f.d.  It also was to accommodate  the body redesign without a major powertrain change.

It would bolt to the engine, but I don't know where the rear mounts would be. I needed a shorter input shaft, a shift plate and back-up switch. I put on my thinking cap and called George Asche. By talking to him, I found out about a 1940 Dodge second gear and cluster replacement, a fast second, in his word's. I can go over 30mph in second now. He sold me what I needed, very reasonable, and we put the right input shaft in my P15. There are two different gears on the input shaft, so that was my bad, cause I didn't count the teeth. Sort of like not enough information. He would have my old long input shaft. And dpollo sold me a spreader spring to complete  my project. It was a FD Item to slow the pilot shaft  and it was there, but compromised, so I replaced it.
