Ashleyschaeffer Posted March 17, 2019 Report Share Posted March 17, 2019 Doing a main seal on a 1954 218 and I can not drop the damn flywheel. The flywheel is very close to clearing the crank flange but the bellhousing is in the way. Do I need to pull the motor just to clear the space or is there another way. Jerry Roberts Posted March 17, 2019 Report Share Posted March 17, 2019 (edited) There should be two heavy ' pins ' holding the bell housing to the block . Drive the pins to the rear and you will get more clearance to slide the bell housing to the rear . MarkAubuchon Posted March 17, 2019 Report Share Posted March 17, 2019 I had the same issue on my 49, that plus trying to figure out how to put in the newer style rear main.
