RedHot71
Having problems w/the carb on my 1951 2 1/2 ton dump truck. Would just as soon replace if not too costly or maybe purchase rebuilt unit. Problem is all I can find is for a 230 cu. in., not the 250 mine is supposed to have. Any thoughts. Thought it was my throttle linkage, but come to find out it is the carb.

RedHot71
Thanks for the reply. Took the rod loose from that pivot point where it connects to the carb. From there to the pedal is fine. There is a catch point when I manually operate the carb & it leaks out the front towards the bottom where a rod goes up into the carb. JBNeal
Kinda sounds like your carb needs cleaning + a rebuild kit...
RedHot71
Does the bottom rod that controls the butterfly get new seals & bushings? I think that is where it is leaking from. Also, where do I find the actual part # for the carb to order the kit or replacement. The parts manual just have chronological #'s.
JBNeal
You will need to get the # from the top of the carb, as I have found on these old trucks that carbs were easy to swap out as an upgrade...with this manufacturer's number, you should be able to order a kit from a vendor found in the links directory of your choosing

Jeff Balazs
You can sometimes find NOS carbs on Ebay. I was lucky enough to do so a few years ago. Price was around $125 +/- for a fluid drive B & B that had never been mounted. Got to be patient though and ready to pull the trigger.
