wayfarer Posted January 21, 2019 Report Share Posted January 21, 2019 Just a short re-cap... •The Dodge 241, the Plymouth 260 (259 for some folks) and the Dodge 270 are all essentially the same block but they do have different cores for the cylinders. You simply cannot bore out a 241 and get to a 270, and getting to 260 is not going to yield a useable block. Core shift is a very big problem in all of the EarlyHemi engines. •You will also find, that if dealing with the Poly head engines, you have some stubby little ¼ ø pushrods and the head is not drilled for anything larger to pass through. We have successfully converted the poly rocker to adjusters (needed for reground cams) then shortened and heat treated the solid pushrods. It is likely possible to drill through the head for a 5/16 tube to pass be we havent tried it. •The little Dodges did not come to market with harmonic dampeners. •LA distributors are a direct fit to the blocks. •The 270 has the 'short nose' cam.
