Starter repairs

Succeeded with the starter repair.  The old commutator end had lost one of the brush holders.  The new commutator end was perfect and the old brushes were the same length as the new ones, so back in they went without being changes. Worked great.

The stick (conduit from my shop) holds the hood against gravity for safety sake.  Took the car to town for a ride yesterday and even braved shutting it off to hit the coffee shop.  Worked.  The car is in very good original condition with complete great condition seats, carpet, headliner, minimal to hardly any peddle wear.  Mechanically it is complete, but needed love and attention, resulting in a hardly running vehicle when it arrived this summer to a spunky alive car now.  Simple things though, nothing major, just needed to start somewhere.  New vacuum advance diaphragm, New spark plugs, new rear end pinion sear,  replaced noisy speedometer cable, checked light bulbs till everything worked, many engine oil changes till it stayed clean, transmission oil change, rear end oil change. Good cleaning with a power washer helped linkages. Picked up a heater box to clean up and install.  More shop time than any needed parts.  Got it with 49,200 miles on it and now with trips to run clean gas and oil through it we have 49,600 miles on it.  Eventually it will go to a good home somewhere, after we have had fun breathing life back into it.  Thank for your comments, encouraging. We do love the ole girl.  And she responds to the love.
