John Reddie
I saw this on a '52 Plymouth pictured in a salvage yard and am wondering what it is? I never saw this piece before on a flathead Mopar. Thanks for any info. John R
Plymouthy Adams
looks to be a remote brake booster...
Plymouthy Adams
Bendix Hydrovac variety Edited December 12, 2018 by Plymouthy Adams
Cold Blue
Yep, a piston Hydrovac brake booster. There is even a company that will rebuild them. I snapped a pic off their site (poor pic, sorry).
John Reddie
Thanks guys for the responses. Was this a factory option on Plymouth's in '52 or an aftermarket application? John R
Dodgeb4ya
It's not a factory option. Someone put it on the car. Plymouth did not come out with a frame mounted brake booster till 1954.
Andydodge
Agree re the aftermarket power brake booster...here in oz there was a brand, Pattons Brake Replacements or PBR who made a number of remote boosters that were a popular fitment to both drum & disc brake systems in the 1950's thru to the 1970's....the VH40 and VH44 were two that come to mind and were slightly smaller and more compact than that Hydrovac but seem to be the same principle.............andyd
