Proper torque

Interesting question............I have the following workshop manuals, a Oz 36-42, an Oz 46-53, an Oz 54 Supplement, an Oz 1957 Chrysler Royal, an Oz 1961/62 Chrysler Royal, a US 1946-54 and a US 1957-1958 Plymouth Service Manual and none of them have anything about this  EXCEPT the last, the 57-58 Plymouth Manual which in the Wheel & Tyre chapter at its start lists the torque for the 1/2 wheel bolts as 65 ft lbs Torque..........I would suggest that this is the standard figure for all mopars with this size 1/2" UNF bolt.........I've never used a torque wrench on wheel bolts, having always done them up TIGHT with a wheel brace, and actually have told tyre fitters that I want the nuts/bolts, whatever on my cars done up by hand not a rattle gun......pisses them off but its my money & I've always been pandered to .............lol...............regards, Andy Douglas

My shop manual (WM-4184) lists 58.5 - 66.5 foot pounds for the wheel hub bolts for your 48 Dodge.
