I want to put disc brakes on my pickup and need input from this group.  Is a Mustang II front end still the way to go?  And if so, which manufacture is recommended?

Thank you,

Dave

That's spending a lot of money and doing a hell of a lot of work, when you can buy kits to put disc brakes on your stock beam axle.

IMHO,Mustang 2 front suspensions are excellent for use with Mustang 2's.

A M II suspension is one way to go.  Bear in mind, it's an entire front suspension swap, not just a disc brake upgrade.  If it's just the disc brakes you're after, Rusty Hopes kit has been a popular choice as well as the Scarebird kit.  There's some kits for the M II if that's your choice or some clips have been done as well.  Both will require welding skills and are much more involved than the relatively simple plain disc kits.

.You may want to ask a moderator to move this to the truck forum.  Sharp people on this and the truck forum but not all visit both sites and when your questions get more truck specific, you may get better and more detailed answers on the truck side.

I'd check out an XJ6 Jaguar series 1, 2 or 3 front end, they essentially bolt in to a chassis and are a very common upgrade here in oz, especially on F100 or similar trucks like the Pilothouse..........check that the track and overall width is o/k for the outer fender edge clearance also.......the only downside with the Jjag front end is that the upper shock mount is part of the Jag so the solution is the weld a piece of box tube onto the upper suspension tower to suit the shock eye width which is not difficult to do......they also come with a nice premounted power rack...........trust this helps................andyd
