stan's52
I have been off my 52 Plymouth Concord for some time now. A hip replacement stopped me for a long time, My Triumph motorcycle project slowed me down. The motorcycle was on a raised table, no stooping. I still have a little problem getting up after squatting, but it's manageable. So it's back to my Plymouth. A year or so I was trying to locate a front pulley. Nothing available. Same as now I still haven't located one. I have a pulley off an older motor, with the wide belt. Will the thin belt work, or is the pulley too wide at the bottom? Someone must have done this. My next option is use a wide belt on the water pump, and gen. (or alt.)Or anyone have the correct front pulley for my 52. Thanks Stan
Plymouthy Adams
the narrow belt would bottom out and not have the grip on the very bottom of the V as that of the original design where the both side of the V of the belt is ibn contact with the pulley. With it on the bottom and not contacting the sides, you will quickly distort the belt as it will start to roll in the bottom of the pulley
Don Coatney
The narrow front pulley from a 53 or newer Mopar flathead will work. Should not be hard to find.
tom'sB2B
Do you have a measurement for the pulley you need. I have one, but not sure of the differences in the diameters of the two pulleys. BTW. What was your Triumph project? I have a 1970 Tiger 650 that I’m planning on rebuilding... as soon as I get m car back together ? stan's52
My pulley (what's left of it) the previous owner destroyed it, is 6 1/2 OD, with a 3/8 inch groove. my Triumph project was a 61 TR5C. Hope you have a good set of whitworth wrenches. Stan
tom'sB2B
I have two but I think they are for the wider belts. The grooves measure 3/4 inch. I’m sorry I couldn’t help you
stan's52
Thanks for looking. I guess I am stuck with the wide pulley I have. Just need a generator pulley now. Stan
