bypass
Hi everyone, It´s time to replace the chain case cover oil seal in my Dodge d24. The oil leak is already big. Probably someone on this forum has also done this. It´s necessary to remove the complete motor out? Or is it enough only remove the radiator? I think that remove crankshaft pulley is a hard task...If a topic already exists with this information, please let me know. Thanks a lot
Plymouthy Adams
the procedure is clearly outline in the repair manual complete with the cautions and tips for a successful procedure..main thing to remember is snug the cover only after the crank hub is inserted to assure the seal is centrically located... bypass
Ok!but its necessary take of the engine? Where can I find the repair manual complete?
Plymouthy Adams
there are a number of retailer out there on the internet (e-bay for example) selling reproduction of the repair manual, personally I find the engine is better covered in the Plymouth book over that of the Dodge, not sure but it seems that the Dodge owners were more inclined to carry it back to the dealer for service whereas the Plymouth owner was more hands on. Am sure others will chime in, this has been discussed and could be looked up using the search feature. But in all seriousness, if you wish to maintain this vehicle yourself, the manual is cocked full of data, specs, cautions etc to protect you and your vehicle as you walk through a repair process. It is a valuable asset to have by your side and while a media disc may sound enticing, there is no substitute for a book for quick reference and ability to jump from section to section as often you are referred to another section for a prior procedure to the one you intend to do. Dodgeb4ya
You can do it in the car with the radiator out...you of course will need to jack the front of the engine up to remove the front engine mount.. This to gain access room to be able to remove the timing cover to replace the front crankshaft seal.
