skips29
Looking for information on a transmission that retains the floor shift like my 1929 DeSoto but gets mated to a 1952 dodge 6 engine.
dpollo
The engine is somewhat irrelevant. It is the bell housing which must match the transmission, My choice would be the 35 to 39 trans with a bell housing from that era as well. These will fit a 52 engine. skips29
Thank you very much. I'll look for that combination. Hope i can find it. I tried the bell housing and trans. from my 29 but the flywheel wouldn't fit. So now i have both the trans from my 29 and the 52 plus bell housings! dpollo
The 35 to 39 trans has a shift tower which overhangs the bell housing . these housings were used on some Plymouths for several years after 39 but the transmission 35-39 needs this housing. You also need to consider where the pedals will mount. The pedals from 35 - 38 fasten to a plate which bolts to the frame and includes the master cylinder mount. Dodge and Plymouth used different clutch release linkages so keep components matching if you can.
