Dennis Detweiler
I'm in the middle of re-wiring my 39 Plymouth. I'm adding two fuse blocks (one for the ignition and one direct, fused at 50A). I'm using relays on the bright and dim headlights and horn. Should I use one on the original tube radio? Should I use one on the heater fan? The heater fan shouldn't draw much current. greg g
I am running the heater fan to a switched power source. The switch has a resister in it to step down voltage to provide slow and medium fan speeds. It makes quite a bit of heat at low speed. If you wire it direct with at least 12 gauge wire, ( 10 if you can get it) it shouldn't be a problem as long as the switch is out in the air. Mind your grounds on all circuits, especially if the go to freshly painted areas. Also you should run a ground from the body to the frame or engine. A double run of 10 gauge wire is sufficient and will help all body mounted electric accessories function as designed.
