casper50
skim coating and sanding that roof was a chore.
casper50
Used 220 grit to take the first 3 filler coats back down. 2 more coats and I'll do these with 320.
casper50
Sprayed the first coat of primer/sealer.
DonaldSmith
The body screams '55 Chevy. But with the appropriate moldings and tail lights, it will be a Pontiac again. I wonder if the instrument panel was exclusive to the Pontiacs.
casper50
the interchange manual says that very little is interchangeable between the two except some body parts.
casper50
Since I went up to Anchorage yesterday to get the wife a set of hearing aids I stopped at Lowe's and bought 3 rolls of window flashing to use as sound deadener. 9"x33' for $17.39 it took 3 rolls. casper50
Finally done with the body work. Have it ready for final sanding before color. The worst is over now it's just mostly money. lol Edited November 26, 2018 by casper50
casper50
Just put the U-POL tintable undercoat on. Took 5 liters and I'll need another two. Still have to do touchup, outside of inner fenders and the inside of the front fenders.

DJ194950
Is the color the same as the future body color? Costs with this product? Thanks DJ
casper50
Yes. It's a metallic electric dark blue. Up here in Alaska 4 liters is $238 I believe. With those deep rear fender wells it takes a lot of material. With the front fenders and inner fenders to do I hope I can get it done with 7 liters. DJ194950
Thanks for the reply! Kind of expensive but if you plan to use the car a fair amount it is worth whatever it cost to stop the rust issues for as long as you own it and maybe well beyond that.! ? casper50
The car had some of the original undercoating still in place. About 45% I'd guess. Where it was still on the metal underneath was still rust free when I removed the undercoating. There was still paint under it.

mrwrstory
How cool!!!!!!!!!! Great looking car. Even better than a Gomad. They're all winners. That said, if you have that big piece of stainless side trim, it's a rare piece and it would be nice to show it off.
