Oberstar
Gents, what size is the threaded hole (in the head) in a 230 that accepts the mechanical temp gauge sending unit? Perhaps accepts a sender with 1/2in Pipe Thread?
dpollo
half inch pipe thread up until 1957 when a smaller hole was used for an electric sender.
Oberstar
Thanks, Dpollo! I found a 6v Stewart Warner electric temp gauge that was NOS, and came with the 362J sender, that is apparently 1/2in and should fit right in. Fingers crossed! Jerry Roberts
On the mechanical temperature gauge , there is a captured nut on the tube that screws into the gland nut . The size on the captured nut is 5/8 inch O.D. and 18 threads per inch . The gland nut is the one that screws into the head with 1/2 inch pipe threads .
