Pushrod Scott
I just saved a 49 Plymouth that was headed for the scrap yard, the title says 48 with matching numbers, did they title the first 49 as 48??????
Mark D
One of my cars is a first series ‘49, p15 sedan. Was sold new at a dealership in coast Rhode Island. Came of the line Feb of 49, and delivered to the dealer in April of 1949. It’s always been titled as a 48. Not sure controls were as strict back then as they are now, locals probably had made lots of paperwork decisions that normally wouldn’t fly today. matt167
Yup, that was common back then. I had a '51 Chevy that was titled as a 1950. I thought it was wrong until I looked at production numbers according to the vin and realized it was a very early build, and was told by an old dealer that NY often titled in the year they were sold. Other states are probably similar
plymouthcranbrook
As recently as 1971 I bought a Honda Motorcycle that was a 1970 model and titled as a 71. Got $100 back in a class action suit about 3 years later. Edited April 8, 2018 by plymouthcranbrook
