aluminum radiator sacrificial anode

Reading in April 2018 Hot Rod magazine ;  " A good idea for any aluminum radiator " ... a anti - corrosion sacrificial anode in place of conventional the drain cock . The one shown is Flex-a-Lite brand part number 32060 sold by Summit Racing for $11.97 .   Opinions are welcome .

If you use any of the 50/50 pre-mix coolants sold in parts houses and box stores, the anode may not be needed. Pre-mixes use de-ionized water thereby reducing electrolysis and residue build up found when using tap water or other water.

Antifreeze can corrode aluminum and that anode is $12.00. I recently opened the hood on a car that had set for about 20 years and the aluminum thermostat housing was almost completely gone.. Antifreeze was nice and clean, too.. There are radiator caps with an anode built in, too..
