Yup, My 251 in Old Yeller blew a head gasket once and there was all kinds of water in the oil.

Definitely start with this.

Is (or was) the cooling system filled with straight water, or an anti-freeze mix?  If water (or if the anti-freeze is not up to spec), any chance it's been in sub-freezing temps for any length of time?

I don’t have a shop up here that does engine work for me. I do have a shop in Baldwin Park that does Machine work on old school engines if you need a rebuild. Anybody I called up here knew nothing about my Hemi and got hooked up with these guys from some of the El Mirage land speed guys.

As for antifreeze in the water. I would agree that most likely it is a head gasket which is pretty easy to replace.
