Nick
I have a 218 that’s got water in the oil. Any recommendations for a mechanic in the high desert area of California to diagnose and repair?
Merle Coggins
Could it be from condensation, or has it been open to the elements at any time? Are you sure it's coming from the cooling system? Maybe change the oil, run it, and see if the water comes back?
Nick
Hi Merle Thank you for your response Unfortunately it’s coming from the cooling system. Groannnnnnn Thanks again
Don Coatney
Could simply be a blown head gasket. Easy to remove the head for inspection.

Yup, My 251 in Old Yeller blew a head gasket once and there was all kinds of water in the oil.

Definitely start with this. Is (or was) the cooling system filled with straight water, or an anti-freeze mix? If water (or if the anti-freeze is not up to spec), any chance it's been in sub-freezing temps for any length of time?
Nick
Hi Elwood Thank you for your reply. It has anti-freeze mix and we haven’t had any freezing temperatures.
59bisquik
I don’t have a shop up here that does engine work for me. I do have a shop in Baldwin Park that does Machine work on old school engines if you need a rebuild. Anybody I called up here knew nothing about my Hemi and got hooked up with these guys from some of the El Mirage land speed guys. As for antifreeze in the water. I would agree that most likely it is a head gasket which is pretty easy to replace.

59bisquik
Tom over at Auto-Dynamic Balancing was the only one semi local that knew my old Hemi and does a lot of flathead stuff besides the newer stuff.
