cmarburger
Hi all, my name is Chad and I'm starting work on a friend's 48 Plymouth Special Deluxe. This car needs a bit of work, but we are hoping to get it together and take it to a car show or two this summer. It has been swapped with a 360 motor and 727 trans we believe to be out of a Duster, and the shifter cable seems to be too long, rubbed on exhaust and melted through. Does anyone know what the best replacement is for this? Also, the owner is not sure if he wants to keep the slap shifter or go with something else, but now would be the time to do it. Any suggestions for this?
Branded
I’d get another cable from a Duster and reroute it away from the exhaust. You can always go with a Lokar Shifter.
Silverdome
I didn't realize they ever put a 360 and 727 combo in a Duster. Are you sure it's not a 904LA?

In 74 the 360 option replaced the 340 and continued through the end of the duster run in 76.......I have had trucks and cars with a 727 mounted behind /6s and 318/360s........
