Fluid Drive Clutch

Would it be possible to ever wear out a clutch disc on a car with the fluid coupling. Been thinking about this for awhile and don't see how the disc would ever get any wear.

Thanks in advance, Dave

My dad had 2 fluid drive Dodges, both with manual three speeds.  A 49 wayfarer and a 54 Meadow Brook.

I recall that the throw out bearing on the 49 being replaced when the car had about 60 to 70 kmiles, but no mention of disc replacement.  He was a very gentle driver. I don't recall him using first gear much on either car unless the car was full of us and a load, or when he was pulling a trailer loaded with camping or otherwise loaded.

I saved the discs from several high mileage units and they showed little wear.  I still have them somewhere. Nobody ever asked for one.
