The engine number should be stamped into a flat pad just above the generator, at the top edge of the block. Also, measure the length of the head. If it's 23" long it's either a 218 or 230 (assuming flat head 6). 25" long could be several different displacements. Many parts are still available through your local parts stores. I have good luck at Napa. Or you can check the Resources area above for a list of other venders that supply parts.

Even carburetor kits can be purchased through Napa and etc. Or check online sources such as Mikes Carburators.

Here is a site with engine numbers, http://www.t137.com/registry/help/otherengines/tengines.html The site says it and be either a 218 or 230 c.i. engine with a 23 inch head from a 1954-56 C-1-C6 or C-3-C6

Vintage Power Wagons is another good parts source.  Next time the Napa guys laugh at you speak to the manager about getting some one at the counter who knows  how to use their old paper parts books.  These engines were still being built for trucks and stationary power plants through the late 60's. Also for airport ground support like Clark tugs, Aux Power Units, baggage conveyors etc.  Lots of them still out there.  Also Massey Harris harvest ing equipment so check out ag. parts suppliers as well.
