Are you saying that with the engine running that you can put the transmission into gear without depressing the clutch pedal? Like the clutch is permanently disengaged? Jj1981 Posted June 12, 2017 Author Report Share Posted June 12, 2017 No sorry I can put the truck in gear with the engine off without using clutch I did try cranking once didn't realize it was in gear it surged. Merle Coggins Posted June 12, 2017 Report Share Posted June 12, 2017 (edited) Oh... Yes, it's possible to shift into gear without depressing the clutch pedal if the engine is NOT running. Since none of the gears are spinning it is possible to get them to slide together with little effort. But you MUST release the clutch, or have the trans in neutral when you attempt to start the engine because if it's in gear with the clutch engaged when you crank the engine it will drive the wheels. If not , you can easily remove the clutch cover and look things over while someone else applies the clutch pedal . See what moves and what doesn't move when applying the clutch pedal . MBF Posted June 15, 2017 Report Share Posted June 15, 2017 No resistance on the clutch? Check the keyway in the pivot shaft on the adjustment collar. The collar may be rotating on the shaft w/o actually moving the shaft. Someone may have had it apart in the past and forgot to put the keyway back in.
