Ok. I have a 48 dodge 4dr sedan. Missing front seat. Have no measurements on what is factory. I have access to a 47 plymouth sedan. How close are they to be correct. If someone or couple. Could measure a plymouth seat and a dodge seat. That would be great. The seat is 1hr away. Plan on going Saturday if it will fit.

When the new body for Dodge, DeSoto and Chysler was introduced for 1941, the body was said to be 3 inches longer from cowl to rear axle and 3 inches wider side to side.

Do not have a 1946-48 parts book, but checked the 1941 and the Plymouth seat is different from the Dodge.  Part numbers for the frame and support for the front seat of the Dodge is the same as used on DeSoto and Chrysler.

So, it looks as if the Plymouth seat is a bit narrower than the bigger models.

The mixup between wheelbase (centre of front axle to centre of rear axle) and tread (distance between front wheels or rear wheels) is quite common.   Even McGyver got it wrong.  On one episode he was checking to see if the distance between the front wheels would permit travelling down a railway track - as he was looking at the front axle, said the wheelbase on the Jeep he wanted to use was the same as on his own personal Jeep.
