Don Dalton
I replaced the output shaft seal on the steering box and after 8 days the slow leak started again . Wondering if there is an alternative out there to replace the original steering box ? Or a good rebuild service to ship it to ?
Dan Hiebert
The sector shaft may be worn at the seal contact to the point a new seal won't work. New shafts are hard to find, but still cheaper than having the box rebuilt. I don't recall off hand, but there have been a few threads with contact info for good rebuilders. Try a search. Many also have put rack and pinion steering on their cars.
jhm1mc13
I used this grease to stop my steering leak. John Deere Special-Purpose Corn Head Gun Grease - AN102562 Jim M
suntennis
I found at the local auto parts store some oil additive that looked as thick as honey. Installed this oil in the steering box and had no leaks.
