Burning Out 6V Head Lights....

My '50 Suburban burned out a Head Light the other day, No problem I replaced it. Drove into the city during the day, When I went home at night the new Head Light burned out right away. Then I noticed my Amp Gauge had went up to +40 then back to 0 then back to +40. Drove home and lost Two dash Gauge Lights. Next day replaced another Head Light, Same thing Happened. I'm thinking the Voltage Regulator is the Problem. I've been driving the for 2 1/2 years with no lighting problem till now. Does any one have any other ideas. Thanks in advance, Mike "LODI3QTR"

Thanks for the input Checked it with the Voltmeter. It was putting out 11.8 Volts at times then dropped to 7v then back up to 11.8v again. Ordered a new Regulator.... Car is all Original.
