49 to 50 M6 swap

There is an early and a late 1950 M-6 trans.

You need the external e-brake band for a 1949 car. Early 1950 cars also use the external e-brake band. May of 1950 and later cars use the 2 shoe internal brake drum e-brake transmission..

Rear trans drum u-joints can differ on the M-6 trans also.

Carefully check what you are swapping.

I have several of those in my spares.  I think, I do not know, that you could swap the extension housings and it would work.  BUT, I have not had both on my bench at the same time to know for sure...They may have used a different or longer shaft for the drum version.  Of course, you could swap it and then have the driveshaft changed to fit the new output yoke and length...
