48ply1stcar
Yesterday morning I painted my floor mat with a Rust-oleum product called LeakSeal. I really didn't know what to expect, I was hoping the that putting a coat on the floor mat would some how hold or fuse the cracks together. I put the paint on a little thick in some places along the edge and then finished the can with a light coating on the entire mat. I wasn't sure I was going to like the result, but after forgetting about mat and leaving it on the old picnic table overnight It feels nice and flexible. I may just put another light coat on the mat and not worry about the cracks and tears.

rb1949
Nothing will put it back to new. If you've improved it a bit, and are happy with the result, then something has been accomplished. Only time will test durability.
suntennis
I used black vinyl spray from a auto parts store on door sill rubber and it looks great. The cap of the spray can looks like a gloss finish but it resulted in a satin finish that almost looked like new. You are lucky to have a rubber mat in such good condition. JerseyHarold
Did you spray or brush the product? Either way, you got nice results.

48ply1stcar
Used a spray. I was a little disappointed, it seemed that there was very little product in the can. I'll post some more pictures of the finished project. The only picture with paint is the picture of the edge with too much paint. Vin's 49 Plymouth
anyone know where to get the original mat front & back? For a 1949 1st series P15? Great idea, by the way.

48ply1stcar
Actually, I just put it in the car. A lot of down time this year. It is starting to separate in other places now. I am thinking about ordering a carpet and leaving the floor mat on top of the carpet as a conversion piece.
