JohnXDoe
I have a 52 Cambridge that has a carb off I think a Desoto. It's a Carter 2297S. I rebuilt it because the whole fuel system was full of rust and junk. Tank and fuel lines were also replaced. It is leaking fuel around the accel pump out of the top. I'm wondering if anyone has any idea of what could be causing it, or what I should look for to fix it. It's getting to be nice outside and I'd like to drive it. Thanks in advance for any help! garbagestate 44
This is just a shot in the dark but you might want to check your float height. I found this carter bulletin with a quick google search.Hope this helps. http://www.carbkitsource.com/carbs/tech/Carter/CarterBBS1956.pdf
grady hawkins
You also might check your needle valve sticking
Tom Skinner
If your Excell Pump is Leather wrapped it might have shrunk, remove it and soak it in 3 in one oil and re-install?
JohnXDoe
I checked the needle valve, but I may just put the old one back in from before I rebuilt it. The excell pump is brand new and is wrapped in leather, it's a pretty tight fit as is. I'm going to recheck the float height again tonight to see if that's it.
