1950 5 window with a 392 questions

Thinking about a build and i have a question for the group. First some background, We have a 1950 B1B 1/2ton 5 window that was poorly modified to take a 392 some time in the 70s. A real hack job, motor was crooked and rubbing the firewall and bolted to the original flathead gearbox.

Everything else about the truck was stock, including 8" drum brakes and suspension. I've been thinking about redoing the truck with an low mileage (70k never opened, needs a hot tank) 1958 392 that i have and i'm wondering, how do these drive with a big lump like that up front on the stock suspension? i'd be doing the disc brake conversion if i kept it as the hemi will put out decent power even with a warm over. We also have a volarie front end that could be mounted in the truck. Would i be better off doing this? i want a old school truck to rock and it would be a fairly low budget build. Trucks been sitting for about 15 years with no motor in it so i can't jump in it to find out how it drives.

Master plan for the build would be:
58 392, stock for now. Light rebuild IE disassemble, hot tank, bearings, re-ring, hot heads 1-4bbl intake, stock 58 new yorker cam, edelbrock 600cfm AFB that i have.
A-518 with a compushift mini to run lock up/OD. Hidden as much as possible
New glass all around except the corners that i already have.
Reuse 70's interior work, which is mostly the cover for the roof and metal everywhere else.
60's 8 3/4 rear axle with a 3.23 open diff for now, 3.91 Sure-grip down the road.

I'll post some pictures soon, this is something i'm kicking around in my head at the moment. I have to sell my 58 plymouth project before i can do this but i imagine that won't be terribly hard.

PS i posted this on the HAMB and on the FB page, just trying to reach more eyeballs by posting around. Opinions are nice to have :)
