Seat covers

Hello everyone,

Making decent progress on the Coronet. Running and moving under it's own power with the 318/904/Explorer rear axle conversion. Winter has slowed work on that part so I would like to do some interior work in my basement. The big question is does anyone make replacement seat covers for our cars? Custom made would be kind of pricey. Also considering out right replacement of the seats with something late model from the junk yard. Any thoughts or experience someone would like to share? There is not a lot remaining of the original car, so that's not an issue. It's turning out to be a mix of old and new. I guess I am kind of fishing for ideas. Thanks.

I'd be surprised if you couldn't buy them from JC Whitney.

Kanter auto products list seat covers in their catalog, as well as carpet, headliner and windlace.  You can get the seat covers in a standard kit, a deluxe pleated kit and a deluxe pleated mohair kit from $329 to $419 for front and back.  I know you will have quite a wait before receiving them as they are vendors for a manufacturer and have to wait for them to custom sew them.  They also clame to have rubber weatherstripping kits that will fit from 1939 to 1974 MoPar cars.

just for the  heck of it try cover king, they have  many  types of  fabrics t o choose from, had a set  from them in a chrysler pacifica fit like a glove, not sure they go back to our cars or not but  good fitment

Maybe they don't go back to our cars, but that would be helpful if I were to use newer seats. Most of the newer seats I find in the bone yard are pretty sound but need new covers to make them look nice. Thanks.

For late model front seats try Chrysler Sebring convertibles.  They are still common enough at pick-a-part yards and have built in shoulder harnesses. Of course this requires substantial floor mount reinforcement. I scored some for my D24 business coupe but haven't put them in yet.

the Sebring has the built in harness for sure...to properly use them one must have the pendulum switch assembly...also note that the early models are the more easier to install as the electronics was not advanced as in the later harness activated units..
