Up near the package shelf near the trunk bulkhead on the drivers side there should be a spot where the wires come out of the headliner and into the trunk.  If memory serves there are bakelite butt connectors to the wires in the trunk.  Trace the brake wire from the lamp to the junction here and see if you have power to the connector. If so then you can use that handy jumper wire to power the wire to the lamp and see if you have continuity from the connector to the brake lamp. You can also jump from one of the tail lights to see if the brake lamp will light. If the fault is in the wire up under the head liner, you can run a replacement line along the brake line from the switch to the trunk area and repower the connector with the new wire from the switch.  You will need to drill a hole through trunk floor or the floor under the rear seat.
