We stayed with forum member Andy Worthington's and is wife. What a treat! The drive in the car was a special treat. Was fun to see the looks and waves as we drove along. TKS Andy.

I've been in 48 of the 50 states, will see the last two, ND & Montana in August. But most of that was fly in / fly out. To experience the cultural, geographical, climatic changes by cross country driving is truly inspiring. But the next time acrosss will not be a "stop" planned trip. I will stop where and when I please, so that means I will either pull a bed trailer or have one on my vehicle.

And my route will be determined by where forum members are. With one " pending " exception we haven't met one we haven't liked and enjoyed.

The colored one we saw in Pogosa Springs, CO, the white one a neighbor wants me to buy. post-34-0-08442100-1434967396_thumb.jpgpost-34-0-16314200-1434967460_thumb.jpg

Well they do look serviceable.   I believe the propane set up on the colorful one is no longer legal in the US.  You probably would notget puled over by the propane police but refills would likely be a no go.

If I should get me a place by a river, then this might come in handy, cat or no cat! I could put a camper on it and become a " man for all seasons "!!!

In berea, ky., just south of Lexington. Hawks Nest tomorrow. Visited a nephew at a baptist seminary today, was chosen as guest of the day here at Boone Historic Hotel and received a free dessert. 3,000 miles so far.

Certainly looking forward to eastern Kentucky and West Virginia tomorrow. post-34-0-77551400-1435111955_thumb.jpgpost-34-0-84044200-1435111996_thumb.jpg

 . . . chosen as guest of the day here . . .

Paul, with your friendly demeanor and winning smile, that doesn't surprise me one bit.

( I hope you told those guys to pray for more rain.)

I noticed that, but I wondered why Plymouthy was written over and why so many pics in the post offices?

Headed to mass. On Tuesday to meet up with Mark D.

I find geography interesting, much more so than cities. It is interesting to look at the top of the terrain. For example on top of the mesas in Arizona etc, is often a cap of fertile land which means that at one time the entire area was a fertile plain. It is very interesting how the rivers have cut gorges through a high ridge to work their way to the ocean. That gives credibility to a Noah type planetary flood. We will be on the road again tomorrow.

Some random pics, the one is presumed to be a self portrait of Plymouthy!! post-34-0-69831900-1435586870_thumb.jpgpost-34-0-79076300-1435586932_thumb.jpgpost-34-0-96564900-1435586971_thumb.jpgpost-34-0-19860500-1435587010_thumb.jpg

If you look closely at the picture with the limestone bridge supports you will see a section of darker stones at the top of the construction.  If you visually remove these darker stones you will then see that these supports originally carried not rails or a road way but were actually the aqueduct for how the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal crossed the river/s there.  The darker blocks were added after the canal shut down to re purpose the piers to carry a later road way.  By looking at the early and later construction you can get a view of the stepped walls that carried the 4 foot depth of the canal. The C and O carried goods west and coal east  its total length was about 160 miles.

We bipassed Pocono and drove on to Montgomery NY. On to Lancaster MA. Drove in rain or over cast sky's all day. Discovered too late about the car museum in Hershey, PA or certainly would have stopped.

Aerial view of Harpers Ferry, and a diner we found in a small eastern pa village, great food!
