No Reverse Gear

Thanks, everyone, for your responses. This mornng, forum member Jim Yergin came over to give me a hand. It didn't take him long to spot the problem: The selector mechanism at the steering column had popped out of place. There is a metal arm there with kind of a round head on it that rides in between two ridges. At some point yesterday (or even earlier) when I was shifting through the gears, it popped out of place and I believe I had neither first nor reverse. It turns out there was a washer missing at the cotter pin connection lower down, allowing enough slop in the linkage to let it pop out of place. Jim and I repaired it and all gears work. I've done a lot of shifting since then to make sure, and everything is still working.

BUT.. .. .I have a leak at the front of my master cylinder. That will be the next adventure.
