Easy For The Young Guys/harder For The Old Guys

My first car, in 1959, was a 47 Chevy Fleetline two door fastback.

Bought my first P15 coupe for $35 in 1962.

During college had a nice 54 Chevy 210 two door, preceeded by a pink/white 54 Plymouth sedan (not such a great car).

Had cars during college like a 50 Dodge Wayfarer convertible, 57 Ford convertible, 52 Dodge two door fastback, 53

Chevy business coupe, 59 Chevy Impala two door hardtop.

In 1972 I found my 47 P15 convertible after looking for quite a while.  Still have it, of course.

During the 70s, bought and sold a bunch of 40s and 50s Mopars that you could find in people's

back yards or driveways for a couple hundred bucks.  The one that got away, that I really would

like to have had.......a 47 Dodge convertible, yellow with maroon interior.  I probably would still have

it today, but, ah well...........

A couple cars I had in the 80s were a 1960 Bonneville convertible and a 67 Ford Galaxie XL convertible....

wouldn't mind having them again.  And there were others.  Current drivers at our house are my 05

Dodge Caravan and her 08 Lexus is250 sedan.  So......there have been a bunch come and go, but

I'm happy with the old Plymouth ragtop.   One of these days, the son in law will finish working on it and

it will be on the road again.

Fun thread, and some of y'all's lists are incredible.

Here's my list in order since February 1986, including co-owned with the ex-wife:

-- 1978 Datsun 280z, burgundy, stick-shift, the car I'd like back.

-- 1978 Pontiac Phoenix sedan, white, V6, auto, the car my wife had when we married.

-- 1984 Volkswagen Rabbit sedan, gunmetal gray, stick, a phenomenal car that ran through abuse, including being hit by a KC Metro bus.

-- 1989 Ford Bronco II Eddie Bauer, hunter green and tan, five-speed, 4x4.

-- 1986 Chrysler LeBaron sedan, four-cylinder stick, burgundy/burgundy.

-- 1986 Volkswagen Cabriolet, triple-white, stick, a surprise 10th anniversary gift for the ex. Bah.

-- 1998 Buick Regal sedan, base V6, dark blue metallic with gray leather, a pretty good car that we drove a lot of miles.

-- 2003 Volkswagen Jetta TDI, silver/black, five-speed, another fantastic VW that made about 220k miles in just six years, all at about 49 mpg.

-- 1983 Mercedes-Benz 300D, thistle green metallic with green leather, a daily driver/project for me. Ended up more "project." Had to sell it when I lost my job and moved for work. Would like it back.

-- 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 ex. cab, 318/auto, odd brown and silver with tan interior. Engine seized at about 210k on Oklahoma's Turner Turnpike, 2012.

-- 2001 Chrysler Town & Country minivan, burgundy with gray leather, about 190k miles when I got it from my folks upon the death of the Ram.

-- 1993 Pontiac Firebird, medium blue metallic with tan cloth, a $250 eBay purchase of which I'll soon rid myself in exchange for some parts/labor on the next car in line ...

-- 1949 Chrysler Windsor project, blue-gray (anyone know the official name of that color) with burgundy interior. Bought in late June sans engine/trans, soon to be 360/727.

Here’s the list of the cars that my wife and I have owned here in Australia since about April 1984. Whilst they were all good vehicles (looking back now), I haven’t enjoyed any of them anywhere near as much as my current blue 52 Desoto truck !!!...

Cars:

1980 Ford Escort (European model) sedan 4 cyl.

1982 Holden (GM) Commodore station wagon 6 cyl.

1980 Toyota Corolla sedan 4 cyl.

1990 Holden Berlina sedan V6.

1988 Holden (Isuzu) utility 4 cyl.

1994 Holden Acclaim sedan V6.

2001 Holden Calais sedan V8.

2010 Holden International sedan V6.

Motorbikes:

1980 Kawasaki KLR250 road/trail bike

1988 Kawasaki GPZ250

1991 Kawasaki ZZR600

Trucks:

1952 Desoto ½ ton utility truck

I have owned a total of eight ½ ton MOPAR trucks ranging between 1948 and 1958 models – 5 of them still in my possession. I plan to restore 3 trucks: the 52 Desoto (already done), the 53 Dodge coupe truck (next project), and then the 55 Desoto.

I have to stop at 1990 but I think this is accurate.   I'm taking poetic license with the first one because the title was never in my name but it was my first car and I drove it a lot more than most of the other ones in the list.

1.  49 Plymouth Special Deluxe

2.  69 GTO Convertible 400/4 speed.

3.  80 Z28 350/4 speed

4.  86 Cougar Bostonian

5.  71 Mustang Mach 1 351/4 speed

6.  69 Shelby GT500

7.  70 Boss 302

8.  68 HEMI Charger

Actually this is my first car http://p15-d24.com/topic/33828-first-look-at-the-p15-in-25-years-or-so/ so that's why I'm wanting to get it back on the road.

My second car was a 1965 Plymouth Belvedere II. It was a rust bucket, but I wish I still had that one too.

I can't remember the exact order, but here's the ones I remember:

  • 1979 Mustang
  • 1977 F150
  • 1986 'vette, (Chevette, that is  :D )
  • 1989 Dodge Ram 50
  • 1991 Ford Escort
  • Some forgettable cars in here....
  • 2001 Chrysler Town and Country
  • 2003 Dodge Neon
  • 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser
  • 2005 Dodge Ram 1500

Also, Murfman1967, you've had some awesome cars!
