larryconnors
If I ever buy a newer collector car than a P15 I think I could learn to like a 1949 Plymouth Fastback 2 door sedan. I find this to be a very interesting car- first because it's a very attractive body style, and because it's a two door. What years did they make these and are they relatively uncommon? Would somebody who owns one be willing to post some information about them? The back seat must be as big as some bedrooms.
pflaming
I had a '50 'fastback'. The rear seat is the same size as the two door sedan. I think they were mfg'd from '49-52. I supposedly was to compete with the chevy 'Fleetline' but not very successfully. It offered not advantage over a two door sedan but for the profile. Dodge did the same. Young Ed
I believe they only made them in 49 As Paul said 49-52 used that body style. They are from the cheaper lineup with the shorter wheelbase. In 49-50 deluxe and 51-52 Concord.
greg g
Dodgebody was a bit different, had a hump for the trunk instead of the real fast back body line. Plymouth Dodge
larryconnors
The plymouth with the fender skirts is one fine looking automobile. I wondered why these were produced at the same time the regular 2 door sedan was also being sold. Thanks for the info.
pflaming
I had '50 Plymouth like that, black, skirts and all. Dang, hated it when Dad bought it for me w/o my knowledge, but it was a very good car. Drove it from Western Nebraska to Fresno,CA and back in late 1958 and spring of 1959. Never tuned it up, just drove it by watching the temp gauge and the dip stick. I think it was to compete a/g the Chevy Fleetline, but the Fleetline was the top of that line and included a 4 door also, and LOTS of chrome. In '51 Chevy came out with their Power-Glide Tranny.
